Push-pull systems
The constant feeding (PUSH and PULL) of the welding wire also promotes the uniformity of the arc and thus achieves a better welding result.
Fronius has developed an extremely narrow conical gas nozzle in cooperation with AUDI AG for the CMT Braze+ (CMT = Cold Metal Transfer) process. The shielding gas emerges from the nozzle at high speed, which constricts the arc and makes the brazing process much quicker than standard arc-welding processes. Gas consumption also decreases by as much as 60%, to three to five litres per minute. What’s more, the high flow velocity and the optimised design of the torch ensure a high cooling capacity, which guarantees long component service lives. This not only dramatically reduces the investment costs, but also the wearing part costs. The welding process achieves a high level of reproducibility, which is why CMT Braze+ is becoming increasingly attractive for applications that used to be the preserve of laser brazing.
One example of the practical application of CMT Braze+ from Fronius is AUDI AG’s body production processes. The car manufacturer achieves excellent results using robot-assisted brazing – the brazed seams are particularly flat and clean. This modified CMT welding process is especially suited to applications that require an excellent weld seam appearance. By switching from plasma brazing to CMT Braze+ in the series production of its Audi A7, Audi has been able to boost brazing speeds significantly.
Are you already using a CMT welding system from Fronius? Then let us advise you on how to exploit the advantages of CMT Braze+. In order to use the new process, all you need are the torch body and an adapted characteristic.
